SYDNEY, Australia - Stocks soared in Asia on Friday, while the U.S. dollar rebounded from sharp falls in New York.
In Japan the Nikkei 225 erased Thursday's losses, gaining 420.75 points or 2.00% to close at 21,466.99 on Friday.
In China, the Shanghai Composite gained 23.02 points or 0.79% to 2,924.20.
The Australian All Ordinaries climbed 50.80 points or 0.75% to 6,786.20.
The Hang Seng in Hong Kong advanced 303.74 points or 1.07% to 28,765.40.
The euro eased to 1.1264 on Friday during the Asian session. The British pound fell back to 1.2528, while the Japanese yen retreated to 107.68.
The Swiss franc was easier at 0.9835.
The Canadian dollar edged down to 1.3032. The Australian dollar dropped to 0.7063, while the New Zealand dollar shed a quarter-of-a-cent to 0.6776.
Overnight on Wall Street, the Dow Jones industrials inched up 3.12 points or 0.01% to 27,222.97.
The Standard and Poor's 500 appreciated by 10.69 points or 0.36% to 2,995.11.
The Nasdaq Composite rose 22.04 points or 0.27% to 8,207.24.
