Momentum Metropolitan Holdings (formerly MMI Holdings) announced on Wednesday that it has appointed two new members to its group executive committee.
Dumo Mbethe and Hannes Viljoen are both internal appointments. They will assume their roles effective from September 16 and September 1, 2019 respectively.
Mbethe will assume the role of CEO of Momentum Corporate. Viljoen will be the CEO of Momentum Metropolitan Health.
Mbethe joined the group in January 2017 and has 16 years' experience in the financial services industry, nine of which were at executive level. As the CEO of the Momentum Metropolitan Africa business since October 2017, with responsibility for 11 countries outside South Africa, he has led the Africa portfolio. Mbethe is an accountant CA (SA) by profession.
Since joining the group in 2003, Viljoen took executive responsibility for the business's health interests in South Africa in 2016. He pioneered various health initiatives, such as the first independent hospital network in SA, the first insight capability for the hospital industry and the first low-cost medical aid.
Momentum Metropolitan Holdings CEO Hillie Meyer said in a statement that these appointments will strengthen operations and help to continue on the strategic path of expansion and growth.
