Chiefs face Pirates at the Orlando Stadium on Saturday with both sides aiming to claim a much-needed win and move up the PSL league standings.
In their most recent fixture, Chiefs were held to a disappointing 1-1 draw against bogey side Baroka FC. While Pirates were held to the same scoreline by TS Galaxy.
The Soweto derby, one of Africa's most iconic derbies is usually a sold-out affair with fans regularly selling out the 80 000-plus FNB Stadium.
Speaking ahead of this weekend's clash, Hunt admitted that his side were missing not being able to play in front of their fans since joining the club.
"There's been good and bad days but generally you need the support that certainly for me would have meant gaining a few more points.
"The whole world has been affected, a team like Kaizer Chiefs certainly cries out for the supporters, there's no doubt about it.
"It alleviates the players and certainly gets them to another level and you certainly miss it.
"I was really looking forward to that support, coming to a club like Chiefs because I've always been on the other side of that support, it could be 50 000 fans with my team having 500 maybe.
"It happens and nobody saw this coming, but yes we do miss the supporters greatly."
