RABAT, Feb. 25 (Xinhua) -- FIFA president Gianni Infantino, hailed on Thursday in Rabat Morocco's policy for the integration of women in football, a statement by FIFA said.
Infantino "welcomed the launch of a four-year development plan" which will improve women's football in the North African country and foster the participation of young girls, said a FIFA statement.
Infantino thanked Moroccan King Mohammed VI "for his continuous support for the development of football in the country and beyond", it said.
"We were able to discuss openly and to identify concretely the projects for the future development of not only Moroccan football, but of African football, and football across the world, especially as Morocco plays a pivotal role in the global game," the statement added.
Meanwhile, concerning his meeting in Rabat with Confederation of African Football (CAF) presidential candidate Jacques Anouma, Infantino said he discussed with him his plans for the future of African football and how FIFA, CAF, and the African member associations work together, hand in hand, to bring African football to the very top level it deserves to be."
Infantino, who kicked off an African tour on February 16, has met with four candidates for the upcoming CAF presidential elections, namely Jacques Anouma, Patrice Motsepe, Augustin Senghor, and Ahmed Yahya.
Mauritania was the first stop in this itinerary, followed by Senegal, Central African Republic, Rwanda, Congo, the Democratic Republic of Congo, South Africa, and Sudan.
After Morocco, Infantino's trip will also include visits to Mali and Benin.
