YAOUNDE, Jan. 14 (Xinhua) -- Cameroon's Indomitable Lions became the first team to qualify for the last 16 at the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations after thrashing Ethiopia 4-1 in Group A on Thursday.
Ethiopia were the first to open scoring in the fourth minute through Dawa Dukele who finished a sweeping counter during the match played at the Olembe Stadium in the capital, Yaounde.
But the hosts leveled scores after eight minutes as Toko-Ekambi headed home.
In the second half, Captain Vincent Aboubakar scored a brace and Toko-Ekambi then added his second.
Cameroon who are seeking a sixth Nations Cup title will next meet Cape Verde in their final group game on Monday.
"We are pleased with this result. We will work hard with the target to emerge victorious," Toko-Ekambi who won Man of the Match told the reporters.
In the second game of the group at the same venue, Burkina Faso forward Boureima Bande scored with his chest to beat Cape Verde 1-0 and secured the Stallions' first three points of the tournament.
Burkina Faso now move to second place to level points with Cape Verde, three points behind Cameroon.
