NOUAKCHOTT, 23rd October, 2022 (WAM) -- The Emirates Red Crescent (ERC) has launched several development projects in Aghlik bin Bayyah Village, as part of its continuous efforts to support vital services in Mauritania.
The projects included the rehabilitation of a medical centre in the village and the Holy Quran Memorisation Institute. An artesian well was dug and provided with a solar-powered tank and pump, in addition to a water supply network that delivered water to homes.
The initiative also comprised the restoration and maintenance of the main dam in the village measuring 500 square metres that benefit 11,000 people in Aghlik Bin Bayyah Village and the neighbouring villages.
The ERC delegation, currently visiting Mauritania, conducted several humanitarian and development missions.
Saeed Suhail Al Mazrouei, Director of Government Communications, attended the opening ceremony of these projects.
Several Mauritanian officials were also present.
Al Mazrouei emphasised that the projects mirror the ERC's attention to enhancing development and reconstruction efforts in Mauritania.
He said they included pioneering and vital areas in health, education and essential services. It was a contribution from the philanthropic organisation to rehabilitating the infrastructure that serves large sectors of the fraternal Mauritanian people.
He pointed out that the projects opened in Aghlik Village are only a link in the series of projects implemented by the ERC in Mauritania in all fields.
The Mauritanian officials extended thanks and appreciation to the ERC for its continuous efforts in adopting such projects and implementing them.
They praised the humanitarian and developmental role of the ERC in Mauritania.
