DOHA, Nov. 22 (Xinhua) -- The Netherlands' forward Memphis Depay says he is focusing on the World Cup rather than thinking about his club's future with FC Barcelona.
Memphis came off the bench in the second half of the Netherlands' 2-0 win over Senegal on Monday and had a hand in the second goal, when Edouard Mendy failed to hold his left-foot shot, allowing Davy Klaassen to seal the win in the eighth minute of injury time.
It was an excellent way to celebrate his return from an injury that had sidelined him since September, although Barca's need to raise money for further signings means he is in the shop window for the January transfer market.
"I'm really happy to be back playing," said Memphis, adding he had "needed a lot of time to recover."
"It's not been easy mentally. But I worked hard to be able to make it and I played for 30 minutes. It's another step forward. It's incredible to play football again," commented the forward.
However, Memphis preferred not to talk about what could happen in the future.
"I don't know what will happen after the World Cup. I am focused on the World Cup. I don't want to think beyond this competition, either," he said.
The Dutch will be back in action on Friday facing Ecuador.
