MARRAKECH, 24th April, 2025 (WAM) -- The United Arab Emirates, represented by the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure, took part in the 31st meeting of the Advisory Committee for the Mineral Resources Sector of the Arab Industrial Development, Standardisation and Mining Organisation (AIDSMO), held on Wednesday in Marrakesh, Kingdom of Morocco.
The UAE delegation was led by Ahmed Al Kaabi, Assistant Undersecretary for Electricity, Water, and Future Energy Sector at the Ministry; and included Ali Qasim, Director-General of the Fujairah Natural Resources Corporation; and Khalid Al Hosani, Director of the Geology and Mineral Resources Department at the Ministry.
During the meeting, Al Kaabi praised the organisation's efforts in developing the Arab mining sector and underscored the importance of strengthening Arab integration in the field of mineral wealth. He reaffirmed the UAE's commitment to supporting joint cooperation frameworks to accelerate the transition towards a sustainable economy.
He emphasised that the UAE's participation reflects its ongoing commitment to exchanging expertise and strengthening regional integration in the fields of energy and mineral resources.
Al Kaabi also reviewed the UAE's experience in integrating distributed renewable energy production units into the national grid, a move that has enhanced efficiency, reduced emissions, and supported the industrial sector by lowering operational costs.
Participants reviewed the organisation's achievements over the past year, including the launch of key initiatives.
Delegates also conducted field visits to several mining facilities in Morocco to exchange knowledge and explore best practices in developing the mining sector.
